Starting School

Starting school is an exciting time for young children and their parents. It can be a daunting time, too.

We believe that with a little preparation and encouragement, most children will settle in easily and happily at school.

We have prepared some helpful tips for parents and carers to support their child's transition into school:

There is also a special booklet for our new children and as well as some key information for Parents and Carers:

Home Visits

Whilst we would have liked to have visited our new children and their families at home before they begin school, we are not able to plan our usual home visits this year. However, if circumstances allow, we will be arranging ‘home visits in school’ during the first few days of the Autumn Term. These visits will consist of a 20-minute appointment in school for parents and their child to meet on a 1:1 basis with their new class teacher. Further details and information about these appointments will be made available as soon as we are able to.

Starting school

To ensure a smooth and happy transition into school there will be a gradual increase in school hours during the first few weeks. We believe this approach will be very beneficial in helping your child settle in, feel comfortable in their new setting and become familiar with daily routines.

Dates and timings for this phased transition into school will be confirmed as soon as possible.
