Geography

Intent

At FPIS we value Geography and want to inspire in our pupils a curiosity, passion and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Our Geography curriculum aims to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world will help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments.

• An understanding locational knowledge of the UK and wider world
• Understand similarities and differences through the study of local, national and international places
• Understand the differences and develop reasoned arguments and opinions to distinguish between human and physical geography; including how the world has changed over time
• Interpret and analyse geographical information from a range of geographical sources and experiences
